Candidates are expected to maintain open availability and work according to the facility's scheduling policy. Fingerprinting is completed on the first day. The worker may be eligible for guaranteed hours while clearance is pending, subject to applicable facility requirements. Job Summary We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive nursing care in a correctional healthcare setting. The RN will administer medications, assess and treat patients, assist providers during examinations, respond to emergencies, and ensure appropriate documentation and continuity of care. The RN will work closely with healthcare providers, nursing staff, facility personnel, and outside medical agencies to provide safe, effective, and compliant patient care. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to inmates/residents in accordance with established policies and procedures. Administer and document medications and treatments as ordered by licensed healthcare providers. Assess patients with illnesses or injuries and determine appropriate treatment or referral. Assist healthcare providers with examinations, sick calls, treatments, and procedures. Respond to medical emergencies and perform appropriate emergency procedures. Coordinate and monitor healthcare services provided by outside or contracted providers. Supervise and provide guidance to LPN/LVN and non-licensed medical staff as directed. Monitor hospitalized patients and assist with appropriate discharge or early-release planning. Maintain accurate, confidential medical records and documentation. Monitor patients with potentially serious or catastrophic illnesses. Provide health counseling and patient education as required. Follow applicable pharmacy laws and procedures, including controlled-substance regulations. Monitor medication and pharmacy usage for compliance with established policies. Observe and document patient behavior and medical conditions. Inspect the medical unit and ensure medical supplies and equipment are securely maintained. Prepare required medical reports, logs, records, and incident documentation. Maintain compliance with facility, corporate, and correctional healthcare policies. Support facility accreditation requirements, including NCCHC, ACA, and applicable healthcare standards. Maintain strict confidentiality and security of all medical information. Respond appropriately to serious or unusual incidents and emergencies. Required Qualifications Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment. Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a nursing degree or diploma. Valid driver's license. Ability to provide safe and effective nursing care in a correctional healthcare environment. Strong assessment, medication administration, documentation, and emergency response skills. Preferred Qualifications At least 1 year of professional nursing experience . Correctional, acute care, Med-Surg, emergency, or similar nursing experience is preferred.
