We are hiring a part-time Registered Nurse to join our clinical team on surgery days. This is a hands-on perioperative role for a nurse who is comfortable circulating, scrubbing, and recovering patients — and who wants real ownership of the surgical day rather than one narrow piece of it. If you like variety, a small team, and knowing every patient by name, this will suit you.

SCHEDULE

This position is for surgery days only. Surgery days could range in hours, but one could expect 10 hours days. Days of the week are currently Tuesday and Thursday but are subject to change. Specific scheduling will be discussed during the interview process.

PREOPERATIVE

Complete and document preoperative nursing assessments: patient identity, procedure verification, consent status, allergies, medications, NPO status, vital signs, comorbidities, and readiness for surgery Verify required labs, EKGs, medical clearances, surgical consents, anesthesia documentation, and photo documentation workflow Escalate abnormal findings, incomplete documentation, or contraindications to the surgeon and anesthesia provider before proceeding Provide preoperative education on medications, caregiver requirements, recovery expectations, drain and wound care, and emergency instructions Start and maintain IV lines

OPERATING ROOM

CIRCULATOR AND SCRUB

Serve as circulating nurse: room readiness, patient positioning, surgical time-out, specimen handling, implant documentation, sterile field support, and intraoperative documentation Function in the scrub role when assigned: sterile setup, instrument and suture preparation, passing instruments, anticipating the surgeon's needs, and maintaining sterile technique Participate in sponge, sharps, and instrument counts. Manage equipment, supplies, medications, implants, energy devices, positioning aids, warming and compression devices, and emergency equipment Maintain infection control standards, traffic control, and environmental safety Complete pre-case, intra-case, and post-case documentation including counts, time-outs, specimens, implants, medications and local anesthetic totals, and transfer-of-care records

PACU / RECOVERY

Provide post-anesthesia recovery care under anesthesia orders and practice protocols Assess and document airway, breathing, oxygen saturation, circulation, temperature, mental status, pain, nausea, bleeding, surgical sites, drains, dressings, and discharge readiness Recognize and promptly escalate respiratory depression, desaturation, airway obstruction, hypotension, arrhythmia, excessive bleeding, uncontrolled pain, altered mental status, allergic reaction, or malignant hyperthermia concerns Manage pain and nausea, dressings, drains, and bleeding checks through to safe discharge

EMERGENCY RESPONSE

Participate in emergency protocols including crash cart readiness, malignant hyperthermia response, airway support within scope, 911/EMS transfer, and post-event documentation and review

POSTOPERATIVE AND CLINIC SUPPORT

(occasional, as needed) Postoperative visits: wound checks, dressing changes, drain teaching and removal, suture and staple removal, medication reconciliation, and patient education Postoperative phone triage using approved protocols, with immediate escalation of red-flag symptoms to the physician Assist with injectables, minor procedures, and energy-based devices when trained, delegated, and competent

STERILE PROCESSING AND INFECTION CONTROL

Instrument decontamination, cleaning, packaging, and sterilization Load documentation, biological monitoring, chemical indicators, storage, and release processes Compliance with universal precautions, bloodborne pathogen and PPE standards, sharps safety, terminal cleaning, waste handling, and specimen handling

ACCREDITATION AND COMPLIANCE SUPPORT

Maintain logs and checklists including crash cart, medication refrigerator, temperature and humidity, cleaning, sterilization, and equipment checks Participate in drills, quality improvement, incident reporting, policy review, and accreditation readiness activities Document accurately and thoroughly in our

EMR TEAM SUPPORT

Assist with room turnover, surgical supply inventory, ordering, and vendor coordination Support patient flow and patient communication as needed Help maintain a clean, organized, professional environment across clinical, surgical, and recovery areas

REQUIREMENTS

Active, unrestricted Texas RN license Current BLS certification Current ACLS certification, or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire (required to independently cover PACU/recovery) OR circulator experience — required PACU or post-anesthesia recovery experience — required, or strong OR experience with willingness to cross-train Prior nursing experience in a surgical, procedural, or ambulatory surgery setting Comfortable working independently and cross-covering multiple roles in a small-practice environment Strong documentation, communication, and patient-education skills

PREFERRED

Scrub experience in addition to circulating Bilingual — English/Spanish Experience with injectables (neuromodulators, dermal fillers) or in a med-spa or aesthetic setting Prior experience supporting facility accreditation

Pay:

$40.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 - 30.0 per week
