1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring TX or compact RN licensure and prior L&D nursing experience. Details Acute care hospital setting on a 12-bed Labor and Delivery unit Unit includes 2 OR suites for C-sections, 4 triage beds, and 16 postpartum beds High-volume unit averaging 160-200 births per month Follows AWHONN staffing guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios Uses Epic EMR Day shift schedule, 7a-7p, working every other weekend 12-hour shifts with modified self-scheduling Floating to Mom/Baby required on rare occasions RNs circulate and perform their own C-section duties No on-call or standby requirements Surgical techs support the unit, and OB/Neonatology and Anesthesia are in-house 24/7 Respiratory therapy equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP) available on unit No monitor techs; RNs must read their own fetal monitoring strips using WatchChild system Requirements Active TX or compact RN license required Minimum 3 years of RN experience required BSN not required for this position Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring L&D nursing experience required Copy of driver's license required for consideration Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility Additional Information Provide direct patient care across labor, delivery, triage, and postpartum areas Charge nurse role is supervisory only and does not carry a patient assignment Holiday coverage required Scrub color is royal blue Unit-specific orientation provided, with 12 hours of general orientation Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year (PRN through outside staffing firms is acceptable)
