This position is contracted to work 7.33 hours per day, 200 days per year.

Position Description/Job Summary:

School nurse will assist in the organization, administration and implementation of school health services in the assigned school setting.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:

Assessments and interventions related to chronic conditions, illness, injury and mental health Responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating and evaluating school health services Maintains, evaluates and interprets cumulative health data to accommodate individual student health needs Maintains accurate documentation of student health visits via electronic medical records Refers students to outside health care providers and/or agencies as needed Chronic disease management and education Organizes and implements state mandated programs such as immunization surveillance, teaching family life and health screenings Screening for health factors impacting student education Development and implementation of Individual Health Plans and Emergency Action Plans Identifies health related needs for inclusion in Individualized Education Plans as needed Medication administration, procedure completion, diabetic management (routine and crisis care) Monitors AED's, stock epinephrine and naloxone for availability during an emergency Provide staff training for OSHA. medication administration, diabetic management and other relevant health related issues/conditions School/community health care provider liaison Maintains documentation for comprehensive health records Maintains confidentiality Participation in wellness and crisis management team Performs related work as required Medicaid Billing and separate documentation that is required by the Department of Medical Assistance Services for that billing to be processed. Education and Experience:

Registered Professional Nurse with a license to practice in the commonwealth of Virginia. Current certification in CPR/AED. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Preferred) Previous pediatric/public health/school nurse experience (Preferred) Possess good organizational and critical thinking skills.
