1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Mother-Baby/Couplet Care/Post Partum position requiring 2+ years of experience and BLS/NRP certification. Details Work in the Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum unit of a hospital setting Care for post-partum vaginal and cesarean delivery patients, tubal ligation and circumcision patients, GYN surgery patients, and low-risk antepartum patients Provide transition nursery and normal newborn care Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM Weekend shifts required to meet staffing needs Floating may be required to NICU, L&D, or the First Hill Campus Epic EMR experience required Requirements Active WA state or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission BLS and NRP certifications required Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required Prior travel nursing experience required Experience with blood/blood product administration, drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps, and wound vac care Experience administering Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate Experience in OB-GYN and post-op care following vaginal delivery, including postpartum readmission care Skilled in normal newborn care, including thermoregulation and glucose management Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years, in a comparable specialty/setting Full SSN and DOB required for consideration Additional Information Provide couplet care encompassing both maternal postpartum recovery and newborn care Deliver newborn assessments, discharge teaching to parents, infant identification, and phototherapy as needed Manage pain including post-epidural and opioid pain management, and PCA use Provide postpartum care including bladder assessment/Foley catheter insertion, breastfeeding instruction, incision/episiotomy care, and fundus/lochia/perineum care Care for patients experiencing postpartum hemorrhage or pregnancy-induced hypertension Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day) Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the facility, though local candidates may be accepted at a lower bill rate First-time travelers will not be considered for this role Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they are not within 50 miles of the facility All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront during the application process
