Our Operating Room Circulator RN reports to the Director of Surgical Services and performs the following duties to support
Edgerton Hospital:
Maintaining AORN Intraoperative Standards of Care. Ability to independently work general, orthopedic, OB/GYN, ENT, dental, podiatry, urology, pain management, and other related surgical cases including endoscopy. Prepares patients for a variety of surgical procedures Assesses plans and evaluates the nursing care needs of the patient before, during and after a surgical procedure. Provides nursing care to the patient undergoing surgical procedures. Provides comfort and support for pre-operative patients. Participates in the care of patients receiving conscious sedation. Administers prescribed medications, applies dressings, and monitors vital signs. Maintains aseptic techniques and actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique. Coordinates the operating room with respect to sterility, cleanliness, availability of functioning equipment and supplies. Ensures the proper handling of specimens. Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems. Orients and mentors new staff members. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Assists with GI procedures including esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) and colonoscopies. Experience Minimum 1-2 years of OR experience (Required) Previous experience in an Endoscopy setting (Preferred) Licenses or certifications: Current WI licensure required (Required) Graduate of accredited school of nursing (Required) Current BLS certification (Required) ACLS certification (Required within 6 months of hire) PALS certification (Required within 6 months of hire) We are a busy endoscopy and surgical center, focused on providing the highest quality of care to a wide range of patients.
