A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients and families based on assessed needs reflected in the plan of care.

Pay Range:
$37.25/hour - $48.30/hour, additional compensation may be available for additional education/certifications
Schedule:
Monday-Friday (8 or 10 hour shifts), back up on call rotation

Coordinate and provide direct nursing care, admissions, symptom management, and patient visits in accordance with the established plan of care. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, patients, and families to establish, revise, and maintain plans of care that support quality end-of-life care. Educate and support patients, families, caregivers, and facility staff regarding hospice philosophy, disease progression, pain management, and symptom control. Communicate patient status changes with physicians, obtain and implement orders, and coordinate medication and treatment updates as needed. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, families, physicians, community partners, and nursing facility staff to ensure continuity of care. Document assessments, interventions, patient/family education, physician communications, and other required clinical information in a timely and accurate manner. Assess, supervise, and coordinate hospice aide services, including development and ongoing evaluation of aide care plans. Provide after-hours support, phone triage, crisis care, and on-call coverage as assigned, responding to patient and family needs in a timely manner. Support care within nursing facilities by participating in care planning meetings, assisting with wound care management, identifying hospice-appropriate patients, complying with facility requirements, and serving as a hospice resource for facility staff.
Additional Responsibilities:
Participate in staff meetings and educational programs, assist with inpatient facility staffing as needed, maintain organizational productivity standards, and perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with the patient and family, the attending physician, coworkers and outside agencies. Current West Virginia eNLC Registered Nurse (RN) license is required. New RN graduates - please share when you're taking the NCLEX exam. One year nursing experience, home health or medical surgical nursing in an inpatient setting preferred. Provides own transportation, and a license to drive with current liability insurance. Driving record meets Hospice's insurance company standards. Computer proficiency required.
Physical Qualifications:
Ability to transport self to office and patient care settings throughout the service area. Ability to walk from car to patient's room in their care setting and perform essential job functions. Ability to lift and move patients and equipment. Able to lift 50 pounds. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English language. Ability to hear normal conversation in person and via phone. Ability to read normal or condensed print. Ability to use a computer Ability to withstand odors.
