Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Site Supervisor and/or Department Director, the Patient Representative performs a variety of secretarial, billing and clerical duties.
Responsibilities include:
utilizing the electronic medical record (EMR) to schedule initial evaluations and follow up appointments and process patient charges; coordinating referrals; preparing the proper paperwork and collecting pertinent patient information; answering phones; performing other related duties as assigned. The Patient Representative provides support to the clinical staff to provide optimum service to patients. Qualifications High school diploma required. Associate's degree preferred or equivalent knowledge in ambulatory environment. Five years experience working with referral processes and patient scheduling/registration Familiarity with
EPIC EHR
system Basic math and computer operating skills required. Past experience working in medical office highly preferred.
Critical Success Factors:
Exemplary customer service skills. Excellent interpersonal written and verbal skills are required. Ability to work and handle a fast paced diversified working environment. Knowledge of medical terminology and outpatient third party reimbursement preferred. Requires effective organizational and interpersonal skills needed for anticipating and reacting to various needs of both patients and medical personnel.
