Job Description
Patient Support Representative We want to hire the kind of person who notices when someone needs help before they have to ask twice. In this role, you will spend most of your day speaking with patients face-to-face, answering practical questions, sorting out appointments and making sure every promised follow-up actually happens. You will be part of a busy New Orleans team where good communication has an immediate effect. Sometimes the answer will be simple. Other times, you may need to speak with several colleagues to get the issue resolved. Either way, the patient should leave knowing that someone has listened and that the next step is being handled. You do not need previous healthcare experience. If you know how to work with people, stay calm when someone is frustrated and follow a problem through properly, we will teach you the healthcare side of the position. The Work in Front of You This is mainly a face-to-face role, supported by phone and email communication. You will help patients understand the administrative side of accessing health and wellness services.
Your responsibilities will include:
Welcoming patients and finding out what support they need Completing check-in procedures and confirming personal information Explaining appointments, available services and administrative next steps Scheduling follow-up appointments and coordinating referrals Helping patients complete forms and provide required documents Responding to questions in person, by phone and through email Updating patient records accurately after each conversation Following up on outstanding requests, approvals or information Keeping patients informed when arrangements or timelines change Working with administrative, outreach and healthcare colleagues Resolving service concerns and escalating clinical questions correctly Protecting confidential patient information at all times This is a non-clinical position. You will never be expected to diagnose a condition, recommend treatment or provide medical advice. The Practical Details The position pays $20.00-$23.00 per hour , depending on relevant experience. It is full-time and fully on-site at our New Orleans location. Working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. , with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. This provides a consistent 40-hour working week with no regular evening or weekend shifts. You will report directly to the Patient Services Manager. What Matters Here Previous experience working directly with customers, patients or members of the public is important, but it does not need to come from healthcare. We need someone who communicates naturally, listens before responding and does not allow important details to get lost. You should be comfortable speaking with different people throughout the day and able to remain professional during sensitive conversations. You will also need:
Strong organization and attention to detail Clear written and verbal communication Basic computer and email skills Confidence learning new booking and record systems Good judgment when deciding when to involve another team member Reliability with appointments, records and follow-up commitments Getting Comfortable in the Role Your first few weeks will include paid training on our health services, patient processes, internal systems, confidentiality and escalation procedures. You will observe experienced colleagues before beginning supervised patient conversations. Once trained, your performance will be based on the accuracy of your records, completed follow-ups, response times, reliability and patient feedback. You will receive regular coaching rather than being left to work everything out alone.
