Job Description

Provide Exceptional Patient Service—Join Southside Community Health Services as an Oral Health Patient Care Representative Southside Community Health Services (SCHS) is a full-service, non-profit healthcare clinic serving the South Minneapolis community. We are committed to improving the health of our patients and communities by delivering exceptional care, removing barriers, and promoting healthy lifestyles. About the Role The Oral Health Patient Care Representative supports efficient patient flow and excellent customer service throughout the patient visit. This position provides information about appointments and services, coordinates scheduling and registration, verifies insurance, and ensures prompt collection of fees at the time of service. Key Responsibilities Answer telephone calls, provide information, and take messages as appropriate Schedule and confirm oral health appointments while supporting efficient patient flow and identifying appropriate scheduling needs Complete the pre-visit process at least 24 hours prior to patient appointments Greet patients, update registration information, and assist new patients with registration forms as needed Assign established charges to provider activities, total account balances, and collect payments at the time of service Verify insurance information prior to visits and during registration/check-in Identify opportunities for patients who may benefit from connecting with enabling services, including the Patient Advocate Ensure charge sheet information is complete before turning it over to the billing clerk Maintain a clean and orderly front office and lobby Participate in staff meetings, continuous quality improvement, and other process development opportunities Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned What You Bring Confidence, professional judgment, and grace under pressure Exceptional customer service and communication skills Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently and as part of a team Flexibility and ability to respond to an evolving workload Ability to build rapport with clients of varying ethnic backgrounds and socioeconomic status Commitment to the SCHS mission and staff values Qualifications Training as a dental assistant or receptionist and experience in scheduling oral health care appointments. Epic software experience preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish or Somali) preferred. Good computer skills.
