Overview Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Barnes-Jewish Hospital's staff is composed of full-time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by a house staff of residents, interns, fellows and other medical professionals. Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Staff in the Radiation Oncology Department work with leading experts from the Siteman Cancer Center, the first and only National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer center in the St. Louis region.¿ With a staff of approximately 250 medical and allied health professionals, the department of Radiation Oncology offers its hospital staff the opportunity to work in a cutting-edge environment focused solely on delivering exceptional and uncompromising patient care. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose The Medical Office Secretary performs front office duties in support of physicians in a medical office setting. Responsibilities Makes office visit appointments, hospital appointments for test and admissions and obtains appropriate referrals, forms and other pertinent information. Educates patients on procedures for hospital tests and admissions. Dispatches finished medical records to appropriate parties as directed. Maintains records of incoming and completes transcriptions. Takes incoming calls and determines the appropriate care service to administer to patients; manages physician schedules.
