Job Description

Responsible for providing exceptional customer service and administrative support to patients during the registration and scheduling process. Verifies patient insurance and identification, obtains required admission and billing information, explains insurance benefits and financial responsibilities, and collects applicable deductibles, co-pays, and outstanding balances in accordance with hospital policy. Enters charges, processes financial and payroll deduction documentation, and balances the cash drawer daily. Provides professional and courteous assistance to patients, families, visitors, providers, and coworkers in person and by telephone. Schedules appointments, appropriately routes calls and patient cases, processes medical record requests, and coordinates workers' compensation appointments as needed. Monitors patient flow, schedules, and waiting areas to promote timely and efficient clinic operations. Must demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills, the ability to tactfully handle difficult situations, and the ability to remain calm, professional, and focused in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Maintains strict confidentiality of patient and hospital information and consistently promotes patient satisfaction. Performs other duties as assigned by management. Education High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred. Experience Minimum of two years of receptionist, cashier, coding, or medical registration experience preferred. Special Qualifications Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels. Knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to operate computers and standard office equipment. Demonstrates excellent reading, written, and verbal communication skills. Demonstrates strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle confidential information appropriately. Ability to remain professional and composed when dealing with difficult situations and a fast-paced work environment.
