Job Description

Summary of Performance Expectations:
Responsible for performance of aspects of insurance claims billing, payment collection and posting and follow-up to all Health Insurance payers; including denials, adjustments, and complete documentation for accounts with end result of accurate reimbursement and patient account resolution. Follow-up and billing of unpaid health insurance claims.
Education & Credentials:
Required High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred Associate degree in Business, Healthcare Management or Finance. Certified coder or practical coding experience.
Work Experience:
Required At least six months experience working in a clerical role in a healthcare setting. May consider strong candidate with a demonstrated successful internship or relevant course of study in place of six months experience. Given training and on the job experience, incumbent should be proficient in basic aspects of position within three months of employment date. Preferred Experience in a healthcare business office setting with knowledge of government and other health insurance payer requirements and reimbursement. Knowledge of billing compliance and basic coding. Familiar with Meditech and SSI.
