Job Overview:
The Registrar is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while completing patient registrations, verifying insurance coverage, and maintaining accurate patient records. The registrar ensures all required consents, referrals, and payments are obtained in accordance with organizational policies.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of one to five years of Hospital Registration experience, Ability to professionally interrelate with people Ex, parents, staff, patients, managed care organizations, physicians, outside agencies, etc, Familiarity with computer software packages, Microsoft Office, Ability to organize and follow specific instructions, Maintain patient confidentiality, knowledge of NJ financial programs, Medicaid, Charity Care The competence to communicate a financial plan for the patient
Scheduling Requirements:
Full Time Day Shift Essential Functions:
Registers patients ensuring that all information in the hospital information system is accurate and complete Obtains all necessary consent signatures for all patients registered Collects referral forms and copays Determines registration status and financial clearance for upcoming patients, preregister accounts and determines which patients need to be seen for registration, collection of copay, referral forms and or financial counseling Communicates with parents regarding insurance regulations, benefits and payment issues Reverifies insurance eligibility and demographic information on active recurring outpatients every 60 days, Monthly for Medicaid eligibility Collects insurance referral forms copies insurance and identification cards and distributes as necessary for all patients registered Requests payment at the time of services for copays and or patients responsibility; provides itemized receipts; maintains accurate accounting of all payments and cash on hand in the department Obtains all consent signatures as necessary, distributes factsheets, consents and addressograph plates for inpatients and outpatients Pre registers, admits and registers inpatient and outpatients in an organized timely fashion Assures accuracy in all registrations, verifies all information when updating a patient's account and or reregistering a patient Verifies all information when opening a preregistered account Serves as liaison between payor, therapist clinician, physician and the patients parent or guardian with respect to financial issues Notifies parents of availability of financial assistance programs, specifically NJ Kidcare, CSH Hospital Assistance Program HAP Distributes and assists with the completion of the applications Completes a predetermination for insurance eligibility and benefits for all new and recurring outpatients seeking services at CSH\ Informs families of their benefits and or financial responsibility Schedules ACC appointments and performs scheduling functions, fast call confirms appointments,
