More about our team Our Physician Practices team is committed to providing an efficient and welcoming experience for patients throughout their care journey. As a Medical Office Assistant, you will provide essential front-office and administrative support to patients, providers, and other members of the healthcare team. This role assists with scheduling, patient registration, referrals, pre-certifications, payment collection, and maintaining accurate patient information to help ensure the smooth operation of the practice. How you'll contribute A Medical Office Assistant who excels in this role: Schedules and registers patients and maintains accurate patient information within the computer system. Obtains referrals and pre-certifications as required. Schedules referral appointments as necessary or as instructed by the provider. Performs administrative and clerical duties including reception, filing, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration. Reviews provider orders prior to the patient leaving the clinic. Obtains informed consent for invasive procedures. Posts charges, completes required paperwork, and collects co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding account balances. Assists with end-of-day balancing and closing procedures, including preparing deposits for courier pickup. Maintains examination areas, equipment, and medical supplies, including stocking, cleaning, reordering, and basic troubleshooting. Assists with maintaining office supply inventory and appropriate stock levels to support efficient workflow. Demonstrates a working knowledge of applicable infection control policies. Additional requirements include:
High school diploma or equivalent required. No license required. No certifications required. Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work effectively in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Ability to perform administrative and clerical functions in a healthcare practice setting. Ability to maintain accurate patient information and handle confidential information appropriately.
