Job Description
Registrar Clinic - Urgent Care Clinic Location Maury Regional Urgent Care 1218 Trotwood Ave., Building C Columbia, TN 38401 Shift PRN (As needed) Position Summary Create a positive impression for each patient, family member, visitor or staff while performing the tasks of registering, routing or escorting patients, family or visitors. Register patients to receive medical services, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Obtain demographic information, validate insurance, and collect payments. Answer and/or refer questions received from patients, visitors, and staff. Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities Greets patient upon arrival: Checks in patients and answers questions patients may have. Rounds on the waiting room periodically and communicates with patients regarding increase in wait times. Communicates with physician and nursing regarding patient workload while providing general support as needed.
Verifies Insurance:
Using appropriate electronic system or by phone if electronic system is down.
Answers telephone:
Within 3 rings, in a professional manner and directs calls as appropriate.
Documentation:
Ensures capture of updated demographics with each encounter. Collects copayments and payments. Documents non-payments in patient chart. Verifies and balances cash drawer, charges and payments posted to computer with end of day sheets. Checks petty cash daily on countdown forms. Provides information for financial assistance Demonstrates commitment to customer service through the use of AIDET with each interaction. Routes faxes and medical record requests appropriately. Scans medical record charts into the EMR.
Discharges patients:
Checks patient out in EPM, forwards clinic notes to referring and primary providers, provides work/school notes, assists patients in getting to outside testing areas or other physicians offices and provides patient plan. Completes assigned tasks on daily assignment sheet. Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
