Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional administrative and clinical support to ensure smooth daily operations within the medical practice. Your energetic approach and commitment to accuracy will help facilitate efficient patient care, accurate documentation, and seamless communication between patients and healthcare providers. Responsibilities Manage patient appointments, scheduling, and follow-up care using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks Verify insurance coverage, process medical billing, and perform collections in compliance with HIPAA regulations Review and update patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies Assist with front desk duties including greeting patients, answering phones with professional phone etiquette, and providing excellent patient service Prepare and review documentation for accuracy, including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and Medicare claims processing Support clinical staff by managing care plans, documentation review, and maintaining organized medical records Utilize computer skills to document patient interactions accurately while adhering to health information management standards Skills Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks Proficiency in medical coding including
CPT, ICD-9/ICD-10
coding for accurate billing and documentation review Experience with medical collection processes and health insurance procedures including Medicare Excellent customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities Bilingual capabilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively Familiarity with clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA compliance standards Ability to perform clerical tasks such as filing, typing (including 10 key typing), data entry, and maintaining organized medical records Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite for administrative support tasks Clinic experience or medical office experience preferred for understanding healthcare workflows and documentation requirements Join our team as a Medical Office Assistant where your proactive attitude and meticulous attention to detail will make a meaningful difference in patient care.
