JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for printing, sorting and delivery of reports to couriers. Handles phone calls including requests for materials; then retrieves, documents and mails-out the requested materials. Maintains the credentialing files on the pathologists. Submits Pathologists credentialing applications and documents to hospitals when requested.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. References & tracks specimens (slides, blocks) sent out for external consult. 2. Maintains HPV standing order database and references (prepares and submits requests) for HPV, GC and Chlamydia testing. 3. Print, sort and deliver reports to couriers. 4. Monitors the computer system printer server to ensure reports are printed and delivered electronically. 5. Prepare monthly physicians' report on abnormal results and quarterly quality assurance report for the Quality Assurance Coordinator. 6. Completes hospital and managed care credentialing applications and forms for OCULUS Waco Division Pathologists; maintains credentialing files and prepares annual credentialing renewal packets. 7. Maintains referring physician database in the Pathology Computer System. 8. Maintains and monitors the Pathology System print queue files. 9. Changes the data and fax numbers of referring physicians, when notified of changes. 10. Assists with Cytopathology of Histopathology accessioning or slide filing as needed. 11. Assists the personnel and operations of the Laboratory Assistants in the accessioning area of the laboratory, as needed. 12. Sends-out blocks for esoteric pathology testing and monitors the distribution of the esoteric report. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION
Requires high school diploma or equivalent. College diploma preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Prefer 6+ year experience working in a general office or secretarial setting. Knowledge of healthcare and anatomy terminology, preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICIAL REQUIREMENTS
The employee may be occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is often required to sit. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
