Skyline Health itself sits on a bluff above the mighty Columbia River with breathtaking views up and down the Gorge with snow-capped Mt. Hood in the distance. We have an opening in Medical Records / HIM Tech . This is a Full Time position consisting of 40 hours per week.
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Assists in the daily maintenance of medical records for all hospital patients. Responsible for maintenance of electronic medical records and chart organization. Responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with Washington state and HIPAA regulations. This position will have full access to Protected Health Information (PHI). Such access is necessary to perform the requirements of the job, and it is imperative that confidentiality of PHI be maintained at all times. This position is also responsible for processing the release of health information requests in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations and standards. Works collaboratively with all hospital departments including clinic practice sites. Audits charges and ensures accuracy. Manually adds charges as necessary. Ensures provider credentialing and insurance enrollment is completed in a timely manner.EDUCATION BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Previous admission/registration experience, medical billing experience preferred
- Ability to input data into computer with accuracy, utilizing proper spelling and grammar
- Requires exceptional interpersonal skills to interview and obtain information from patients and to interact with other hospital personnel
- Requires the ability to prioritize multiple duties in a fast paced environment since the performance and concentration of several tasks may be required simultaneously
- Requires the ability to move and transition between multiple departments in an expedient manner
- The ability to multitask, work on numerous projects at one time and change focus when appropriate for the work environment
- Bilingual preferred but not required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Supports hospital mission and strategic vision; manages hospital resources appropriately; complies with hospital policies and programs; maintains skill levels, licenses, and certifications; complies with all state and federal compliance and HIPAA requirements; keeps lines of communication open between self and other hospital personnel; competent with computer programs.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Pick up documents from various areas in hospital for chart compilation. Process daily outpatient packets assuring each record is complete and accurate. Attach test results and other forms to patient charts and scan into EMR (Electronic Medical Record). Assure correct assembly of patient records within the EMR. Scan documents into EMR accurately and in a timely manner. Perform incoming and outgoing Release of Information (ROI) in accordance with all State and Federal requirements and laws. This includes maintaining logs in the EMR as well as preparing documents and invoices for release of information. Maintain and properly archive paper charts as necessary. Pull and deliver paper medical record charts or components for inpatients and outpatients when requested. Audit charges and input manual charges when necessary. Complete provider credentialing. Complete insurance enrollment for both facility and providers. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.HOW WE CARE FOR YOU
