A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description

Category Respiratory Therapist Job Type Contract A contract opportunity is available for experienced respiratory professionals in a high-acuity setting. This facility features 492 beds, a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke Center, offering broad clinical exposure and collaborative care environments.
Schedule:
12-hour shifts: 7 a.m.-7 p.m. or 7 p.m.-7 a.m. Every other weekend rotation Voluntary on-call availability Requirement to work one major and one minor holiday per year Up to 7 days off may be approved, pending blackout dates
Qualifications:
Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred; Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) considered with a minimum of 2 years' experience Recent experience in a Level
III NICU
(within the last 12 months) for NICU RT roles BLS and NRP required for NICU;
ACLS/APLS
preferred Strong skills in general/critical adult care and, for NICU RTs, expertise in neonatal ventilator management, ground transport, and nitric oxide administration Proficiency with Cerner EMR necessary; familiarity with Omnicell, Spacelabs monitoring, and ventilators including
PB 840, PB
980, Drager VN500,
LTV, and Airvo Responsibilities:
Deliver advanced respiratory care to adult and neonatal populations across hospital units Provide and manage mechanical ventilation and airway management Participate in ground transport and nitric oxide protocols for NICU assignments Float as needed to similar patient populations; NICU therapists will also support adult care areas Complete comprehensive facility orientation including classroom and unit time
