Job Description

Hartford Healthcare is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner to deliver high-quality, evidence-based respiratory care across our Connecticut network. In this role, you will assess patients, perform diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures, manage ventilators, and respond to emergencies in collaboration with physicians and nurses. You'll use advanced technology, follow best-practice protocols, and document care accurately in the EMR. Responsibilities Assess patients' respiratory status and develop appropriate care plans. Administer therapeutic respiratory treatments and medications per provider orders. Set up, manage, and monitor invasive and non-invasive ventilators. Perform and interpret arterial blood gas sampling and basic pulmonary diagnostics. Respond to respiratory emergencies and provide airway management support. Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, therapies, and equipment use. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR). Ensure equipment is clean, safe, and compliant with infection control standards. Participate in quality improvement, protocol development, and ongoing education.
