Job Description
The clinical work includes:
� Setting up and managing mechanical ventilation. � Emergency care. � Assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and intubations. � Monitoring physiological responses to therapy. � Educating patients and their families about their conditions. � Teaching appropriate disease management techniques.Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduate of accredited associate's degree respiratory program.Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:
Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purposeNOTE:
A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job. Please indicate the appropriate operator designation on the Request for Personnel (RFP) form at the time a RFP is submitted to post the position.Licensure/Certification/Registration:

A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.
