A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Respiratory Therapist, Inpatient Hospitals, PRN, Days (2865) Brooks Rehabilitation - 3.6 Jacksonville, FL Job Details PRN 1 day ago Qualifications RRT BLS Certification Associate's degree Full Job Description Description Responsible for direct patient care within the inpatient hospitals. Patients served include adults with Traumatic Brain Injury, Spinal Cord, Stroke, Medically Complex, Orthopedic injuries, and Respiratory conditions requiring mechanical ventilation.
Hours:
PRN, Day shift
Responsibilities:
Performs direct patient care to patients in all aspects of respiratory care according to the physicians orders/approved protocols Setting up and managing mechanical ventilation Monitoring physiological responses to therapy. Educating patients and their families about their conditions Teaching appropriate disease management techniques. Follow appropriate universal precautions during the delivery of care. Uses proper lifting and body mechanics during delivery of care. Successfully completes all assigned training and annual skills competency as determined by the hospital based on responsibilities, specialized equipment, high risk/problem /or low volume procedures including but not limited to emergency response techniques. Consider patient/customer comfort and need to control when planning and delivering patient care. Demonstrate commitment to superior customer experiences with a service-oriented attitude.
Qualifications:
Respiratory Therapist, Registered Respiratory Therapist required. Associates Degree required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
