A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Summary:
Provides care for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders.
  • The role as a respiratory therapist for Memorial System Manor is unique because you help individuals live their best lives from a healthcare perspective.
We do not have multiple floors, an emergency room, perform ABGs, the only diagnostic we perform are EKGs occasionally. The duties are to care for ventilator dependent respiratory failure clients, routine nebulizer treatments, various non-manual chest physical therapies, and bedtime CPAPs and BIPAPs. You will have the ability to impact people where it counts the most, their homes and for some we are their steppingstone prior to going home
  • Two days per week; 6:30am
  • 7pm; weekend rotation every 3rd week. Post acute care experience preferred but not mandatory. Familiar with electronic health records, can work independently or as a team, and detail oriented. Entry level welcome to apply
Responsibilities:
Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.

Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.

Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.

Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
