Full Job Description Role Overview:
The Respiratory Therapist II provides complex respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessments, primarily in critical care settings. They deliver evidence-based, safe, and high-quality patient care, including ventilator management, airway procedures, arterial blood gas analysis, and patient education. They collaborate with healthcare teams, promote patient safety, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. The role involves mentoring new staff and students, supporting a team-oriented environment, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
Responsibilities:
Perform patient assessments, verify orders, administer respiratory therapies, manage ventilators, and conduct invasive and non-invasive procedures. Educate patients and support staff, promote safety and quality initiatives, and support performance improvement practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
Requires an associate's degree in respiratory therapy, certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), and active licenses in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP. Clinical experience of 0-2 years, with at least six months in critical care, is necessary. Strong communication, critical thinking, assessment, and computer skills are essential for success.
