Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description

Position Overview Are you a dedicated Respiratory Therapist looking for a flexible PRN role in Statesboro, GA? We are seeking a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) to deliver exceptional diagnostic, therapeutic, and emergency respiratory care under physician direction. In this role, you will play a critical part in patient evaluation, ventilator management, and therapeutic interventions across diverse patient populations in accordance with organizational standards and clinical protocols.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions Patient Care & Assessment :
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, orient patients to treatment modalities, administer pharmacological and therapeutic treatments, and monitor responses to optimize clinical outcomes.
Specialized Procedures :
Perform accurate Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) punctures and reporting, conduct pulmonary testing procedures, and assist physicians with bedside procedures.
Ventilator & Airway Support :
Manage ventilator settings and maintain patient airways, ensuring safety, comfort, and compliance with infection control and PPE protocols.
Emergency Response :
Exercise skilled judgment in critical/emergency situations, initiating interventions and collaborating closely with interdisciplinary care teams to stabilize patients.
Documentation & Protocol Compliance :
Maintain prompt, clear, and thorough EMR documentation; implement written/verbal physician orders accurately while adhering to safety regulations.
Equipment Care :
Evaluate, maintain, and sanitize respiratory equipment to guarantee top operational and safety standards.
Collaborative Communication :
Maintain open, effective communication with peers, physicians, leadership, and families regarding patient status and treatment plans.
Adaptable Patient Care :
Deliver age-specific care considerations for oxygen therapy across all patient demographics.
Operational Readiness :
Maintain regular, reliable attendance and fulfill other duties as assigned in compliance with facility standards. Qualifications & Skills Education & Certification Requirements Certification (must have one of the following): Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) OR Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) OR Recent graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program with certification eligibility required. Basic Life Support (BLS): BCLS required within 30 days of hire.
Advanced Certifications:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required (Georgia State Requirement). Successful completion of assigned SAMA course within 30 days of hire required (Georgia State Requirement).
Experience & Core Competencies Experience:
1-3 years of respiratory therapy experience in an acute care setting preferred.
Technical Proficiency:
Strong skills in ventilator management, airway maintenance, diagnostic testing, and electronic medical record (EMR) documentation.
Core Skills:
Knowledge of infection control, regulatory standards, and safety protocols; excellent interpersonal communication; rapid critical thinking in emergency settings. Benefits 401(k) with employer match
