A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Qualifications and Skills:
Active credential as a Respiratory Therapist; CRT certification required Proven experience in acute and/or chronic respiratory care Strong understanding of respiratory therapies, ventilation management, and airway care Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS preferred Excellent assessment, documentation, and communication abilities Adaptability to evolving patient needs and technology
Responsibilities:
Administer a range of respiratory therapies and interventions per physician orders Conduct thorough patient assessments and interpret diagnostic results to tailor care plans Set up, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation and other respiratory equipment Respond rapidly to emergency situations and provide critical care, including airway management Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, treatment plans, and lifestyle modifications Monitor patient progress and collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary medical team Ensure accurate documentation of treatment, patient response, and compliance with all regulatory standards Participate in departmental meetings, training, and quality-improvement initiatives
