A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Director Of Respiratory Care, The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for administering safe and competent respiratory care as ordered per provider, providing trach care, monitoring mechanical ventilation, administering medications, patient assessment and educating both residents and family members. 2.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Essential:
standing, walking, stooping/bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting body, finger dexterity, reaching above, at and below shoulder level; repetitive arm/hand motions.
Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions. Subjected to noise/vibration from ventilator alarms. Exposure to body fluids, communicable diseases, and nebulized medications. Exposure to floor spills. 4.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE
Current Hawaii State license as a Respiratory Therapist, or in process of license endorsement from another state. Current CPR certification at the Health Care Professional (BLS) level.
B. EXPERIENCE
