Job Description
Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, IL is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to provide high-quality respiratory care to diverse patient populations. In this role, you will assess, treat, and monitor patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions, administer therapies, manage ventilators, and perform diagnostic tests. You will collaborate closely with physicians and nursing staff, respond to respiratory emergencies, and educate patients and families. Responsibilities Assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory disorders across inpatient and emergency settings Administer oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, ventilator support, and other respiratory modalities per physician orders Perform diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gases, spirometry, and pulmonary function assessments Set up, operate, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment, ensuring proper infection control and safety standards Educate patients and families on respiratory care plans, equipment use, and disease management Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans Respond to respiratory emergencies, including code situations and rapid response calls Document assessments, treatments, and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record Participate in quality improvement initiatives and follow evidence-based respiratory care protocols Support training and mentoring of new staff or students as needed Required Skills Respiratory therapy procedures Mechanical ventilation management Oxygen therapy administration Arterial blood gas sampling and analysis Pulmonary function testing Use and maintenance of respiratory equipment Infection control and safety protocols Electronic medical records documentation Emergency and code response Patient and family education
