A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description
PULMONARY FUNCTION THERAPIST PART-TIME - CROWN POINT
Position Description:
The Pulmonary Function Therapist is responsible for performing and assisting with a variety of pulmonary function tests to evaluate and assess patients' respiratory status. The technician prepares patients for testing, operates and maintains pulmonary diagnostic equipment, ensures accurate and quality test results, and provides compassionate patient care throughout the testing process. The technician works collaboratively with physicians, respiratory therapists, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
Education/Experience:
Completion of an approved Respiratory Therapy program and successful completion of the certification and/or registry exams through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC). Requires current Indiana Respiratory Care Practitioner's license. Preferred Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) credential or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) credential.
