Summary Job Description:
RRT or CRT - Cardiac Rehab PRN (as needed) The Respiratory Care Therapist is responsible for managing and providing for age-appropriate patient care, adolescent to geriatrics. This includes the immediate, short-term care needs of patients, as well as, planning for long-term needs. The therapist scope of practice is determined by the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care, AARC Guidelines, Baptist Health Hardin and patient care services policies, procedures and standards of practice.
Requirements:
Graduate from an accredited respiratory therapy program required. Current Kentucky Respiratory Care license through the KBRC required. Registered Respiratory therapist (RRT) OR Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required. A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.
