Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients across the hospital. The Respiratory Therapist will assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory diseases and conditions, administer prescribed respiratory therapies, provide invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation support, perform diagnostic procedures, and respond to critical and emergency situations. The role requires strong clinical assessment, airway management, ventilator management, critical-thinking, and communication skills. The therapist will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support safe and effective patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities Critical & Emergent Care Respond to Code Blue, Rapid Response , and other emergency situations throughout the facility. Provide respiratory support during high-risk deliveries, including care of compromised newborns. Perform airway management and maintain endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes . Assess and monitor patients receiving invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation. Adjust ventilator parameters as ordered and based on patient response. Perform or assist with advanced procedures such as: Endotracheal tube insertion Arterial line procedures Bronchoscopy General Respiratory Care Administer prescribed respiratory medications, including: Small-volume nebulizer treatments Metered-dose inhalers Provide non-medicated respiratory therapies, including: Chest physiotherapy Positive Expiratory Pressure (PEP) Oscillating PEP Administer and adjust oxygen therapy according to patient needs and provider orders. Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments. Make appropriate clinical recommendations to providers. Educate patients and families regarding respiratory conditions, treatments, and medications. Diagnostic Procedures Perform pulmonary function testing when appropriately trained and competent. Perform neurodiagnostic studies, including EEG , when applicable. Perform cardiac diagnostic testing such as: 12-lead ECG Holter monitoring Obtain arterial and capillary blood gas samples. Analyze and interpret blood gas and electrolyte results. Perform and document oximetry studies. Documentation & Communication Accurately document patient assessments, treatments, interventions, and pertinent clinical information in the medical record. Provide effective shift reports and communicate patient status during transfers and changes in level of care. Educate peers and students as appropriate. Participate in situational debriefings. Participate in quality improvement, safety, risk-management, and departmental initiatives. Attend departmental meetings, huddles, and in-service education. Communicate concerns, events, and operational issues to department leadership. Equipment & Supply Management Clean, prepare, and maintain respiratory equipment, including: Invasive ventilators Non-invasive ventilators Therapeutic gas delivery devices Ensure departmental analyzers are functioning properly. Identify and communicate equipment and supply needs. Required Qualifications Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care . Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) . Appropriate Kentucky respiratory therapy license/certification : Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care certification OR Respiratory license through the Kentucky Professional Licensing Agency appropriate to the facility. Current BLS certification. Current ACLS certification. Current PALS certification. PALS may be waived for candidates working exclusively in Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT), as determined by the hiring manager. NRP required for candidates working with the neonatal population. NRP is not required for candidates working exclusively in PFT, as determined by the hiring manager. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a licensed and credentialed RRT who is confident managing patients requiring invasive and non-invasive ventilation, airway management, respiratory treatments, and emergency response. Candidates should demonstrate strong clinical judgment, patient assessment skills, teamwork, communication, and the ability to perform effectively in a hospital environment.

Best-fit candidates:

RRTs with acute-care hospital experience, ventilator management, emergency/code response, airway management, ABG interpretation, and current

BLS/ACLS/PALS

credentials. Neonatal experience is especially valuable for candidates who will support high-risk deliveries and compromised newborns.

Pay:
