A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Respiratory Therapist
Respiratory Therapist (RT)Position SummaryProvide respiratory care to patients with breathing and cardiopulmonary conditions. Assess respiratory needs, administer treatments, operate respiratory equipment, and support patients in achieving optimal respiratory function.
Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patients' respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions.
- Provide respiratory treatments, therapies, and medications as prescribed.
- Manage oxygen therapy, ventilators, and other respiratory equipment.
- Perform airway management, suctioning, and respiratory procedures.
- Assist with emergency airway and resuscitation procedures.
- Monitor patient response to treatments and report changes in condition.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory care and equipment use.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Follow patient safety, infection-control, and respiratory care standards.
Qualifications - Associate or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current and active Respiratory Therapist license in the applicable state.
- CRT or RRT credential as required; RRT preferred.
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred or as applicable.
- Previous clinical respiratory therapy experience preferred.
- Strong clinical, technical, communication, and patient-care skills.
Pay Rate
$46.60 - $51.48/hour
