Job Description

Active Respiratory Therapist license and 2+ years of in-patient hospital Respiratory Therapy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Join a leading healthcare team as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) at a premier Level 1 trauma and teaching hospital located in Portland, ME. This travel position offers an exciting opportunity to provide expert respiratory care across multiple units, including a newly opened 3rd Surgical ICU and expanded Intermediate Care Unit (IMC), resulting in increased patient care needs with 30 current respiratory therapy openings.
Position Overview:
Schedule:
3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Duration:
Preferred 26-week assignment
Weekly Hours:
36 guaranteed
Call Requirement:
2 hours notice for oncoming shift Multiple openings available within Respiratory Therapy department covering acute care pediatrics, NICU/PICU, emergency department, adult acute and critical care areas Work alongside a cohesive team of 14-16 RRTs covering the entire facility
Responsibilities:
Deliver comprehensive respiratory therapy treatments using advanced ventilators including Drager V500, Hamilton T1, Respironics V30 and more Manage patient care in diverse settings with patient ratios of 1:25 in acute and 1:8 in critical care units Utilize the
EPIC EMR
system for accurate and timely documentation Provide flexible coverage and float to units as needed, demonstrating excellent communication and teamwork
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum 3 years respiratory therapy experience, preferably in tertiary care or teaching hospital settings Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required BLS certification required; ACLS and NRP (for NICU experience) preferred Experience with NICU/PICU and cardiothoracic patients is highly desirable Ability to adapt quickly and work collaboratively in a dynamic environment
