Job Description

Mercy is seeking a compassionate Respiratory Therapist to deliver high-quality respiratory care across acute and chronic conditions. In this role, you will assess patients, perform respiratory treatments, manage ventilators, monitor arterial blood gases, and collaborate with physicians and nurses to develop individualized care plans. You will educate patients and families, ensure accurate EMR documentation, and uphold strict safety and infection-control standards while working within a supportive, multidisciplinary care team. Responsibilities Assess patients' respiratory status and develop care plans in collaboration with physicians and nurses Administer respiratory therapies, including nebulizer treatments and oxygen therapy Manage and monitor mechanical ventilators and noninvasive ventilation equipment Perform and interpret arterial blood gases and other respiratory diagnostics Document assessments, treatments, and patient responses in the EMR accurately and timely Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, treatments, and home care Respond to respiratory emergencies and participate in rapid response and code teams Maintain equipment, follow infection-control protocols, and ensure a safe clinical environment Required Skills Mechanical ventilation management Arterial blood gas interpretation Pulmonary function testing Respiratory assessment Airway management Nebulizer and oxygen therapy Electronic medical records (EMR) documentation Infection control procedures CPR/BLS skills Patient and family education
