Job Description

Lafayette Regional Health Center seeks a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Therapist PRN (Registered Respiratory Therapist, Per Diem) to join our healthcare team in Lexington, MO. This role requires someone who can provide patient-centric respiratory care under minimal supervision to those with respiratory disorders. The successful candidate will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and initiate individualized patient care based on assessments and authorized medical protocols. This PRN position allows for flexibility and requires availability to meet varying shifts based on the hospital's needs, ensuring high-quality respiratory services for ER, Radiology, and Rehabilitation Services. Responsibilities Assess patient's respiratory conditions by performing physical exams and diagnostic tests. Develop and implement respiratory care plans and administer prescribed treatments. Operate and manage life support systems and various medical gases. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatments accordingly. Document patient care and outcomes in accordance with facility protocols. Educate patients and families about respiratory health and ongoing care requirements. Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and arranging for repairs. Required Skills Strong understanding of respiratory care modalities Proficiency in the use of ventilators, CPAP, Bi PAP, and other respiratory equipment Ability to perform accurate assessments and develop treatment plans Skilled in emergency response and able to handle high-stress situations
