Specialty Hospital of Central Jersey | AcuteCare Health System Lakewood, NJ +$6.00/Hr Night Shift Differential •Plus Additional Incentives•Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Specialty Hospital of Central Jersey is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our multidisciplinary team. Our specialty hospital cares for medically complex and critically ill patients, including ventilator-dependent individuals requiring advanced respiratory support and rehabilitation. The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for assessing patients' pulmonary status, developing respiratory care plans in collaboration with physicians and nursing staff, and providing high-quality respiratory care services to promote optimal patient outcomes. Position Summary The Respiratory Therapist evaluates, treats, and monitors patients with respiratory disorders and cardiopulmonary conditions. This position plays a critical role in the management of ventilator-dependent patients and collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other members of the healthcare team. Essential ResponsibilitiesPatient Care Assess patient pulmonary status and develop individualized respiratory care plans Manage ventilator-dependent patients and provide ongoing respiratory assessments Perform respiratory treatments including MDI therapy, aerosol treatments, high-flow oxygen therapy, CPT, and other prescribed interventions Evaluate patient response to treatment and modify care as appropriate Obtain and process arterial blood gases (ABGs) Assist with emergency intubations and extubations per physician orders Manage the transport of ventilated patients Respond to cardiopulmonary emergencies and provide life support measures Transcribe and implement physician orders related to respiratory care Collaboration and Care Coordination Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and case managers regarding patient progress and respiratory needs Participate in discharge planning and patient/family education Support continuity of care through communication with post-acute providers and community resources Reinforce care plans and treatment goals with patients and families Quality and Performance Improvement Participate in chart audits and quality improvement initiatives Monitor patient outcomes and contribute to performance improvement efforts Report identified safety concerns, medical errors, and hazardous conditions in accordance with hospital policies QualificationsRequired Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Current New Jersey Respiratory Care Practitioner License Current BLS Certification Associate Degree in Respiratory Care Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Care or current enrollment in a bachelor's program Previous experience in LTACH, critical care, ICU, or ventilator management environments Clinical Skills Experience with: Mechanical ventilators BiPAP and non-invasive ventilation High-flow oxygen systems Bedside bronchoscopy support Airway clearance devices, including CPT Vest and Cough Assist equipment Tracheostomy care Critical care respiratory interventions Schedule Full-Time Opportunities Available Day and Night Shift Opportunities Available Physical Requirements Ability to lift at least 25 pounds and assist with patient transfers and positioning Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, and pull throughout the workday Manual dexterity necessary to operate respiratory therapy equipment Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment Why Join Specialty Hospital of Central Jersey?
