A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description
Overview Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and other employees. Behaves in a manner consistent with maintaining and furthering a positive public perception of BronxCare Health System and its employee Responsibilities The Registered Respiratory Therapist II provides patient assessment and patient care for all pulmonary patients at BronxCare Health System. This key clinical position supports the efforts of the cardiopulmonary physicians and staff providing respiratory care. Qualifications High School Diploma required, New York State Registration as Respiratory Therapists, and Formal Training required. One to three (1-3) years' experience as Registered Respiratory Therapists in a hospital setting. Equivalent experience with patients and demonstrated Respiratory Therapy Competencies. Skills with , Nasal Cannula, Vent mask, Face Tent, Aerosol masks, Trach collar and Humidifier, Continuous Mechanical Ventilators.
