What they do
A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team and provide high-quality respiratory care that supports the health, comfort, and well-being of our residents.
In this role, you will use your clinical expertise to assess, treat, and monitor residents with respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams, you will develop individualized care plans and deliver evidence-based respiratory therapies that promote optimal outcomes and improve quality of life.

What You'll DoAs a Full-Time Respiratory Therapist at Richmond Community Services, you will:
Assess residents' respiratory status and develop treatment plans based on physician orders and clinical evaluations.
Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, chest physiotherapy, and ventilator support.
Monitor and maintain respiratory equipment to ensure safe and effective operation.
Educate residents, families, and caregivers on respiratory conditions, treatment plans, disease management, and respiratory equipment use.
Accurately document resident assessments, treatments, progress, and changes in condition in accordance with clinical and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive resident care.
Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies and provide critical respiratory support when needed.
Participate in care planning meetings and interdisciplinary discussions to support positive resident outcomes.
Required QualificationsCurrent and valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).Current state licensure or certification to practice as a Respiratory Therapist.
Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree).Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Demonstrated ability to perform respiratory therapy procedures and operate respiratory care equipment safely and effectively.
Preferred QualificationsExperience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care, acute care, or critical care settings.
Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, and/or NRP.Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
Strong communication and resident education skills.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
