A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Personalized care together with advanced technology is what it means to be Community Strong Responsibilities The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for assessing, treating and caring for patients with breathing disorders. Performs all Respiratory Therapy procedures as practiced and approved by the hospital including the supervision of respiratory therapy technicians. Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patient records; and select, assemble, check and operate equipment. Qualifications Currently licensed/registered in NYS for Respiratory Therapy. Associate's Degree of Applied Science and/or Bachelor's Degree from AMA approved school of Respiratory Therapy required. Minimum of 5+ years experience preferred.
