POSITION SUMMARY
To provide therapeutic modes of respiratory treatments to all patients. Qualifications A minimum of an associate degree from a respiratory therapy education program accredited
One year full time or three years part time experience in acute care setting
Licensed as a RRT by the Texas Medical Board and registered by NBRC
Must have healthcare provider CPR
Must receive ACLS, PALS, and NRP within 90 days of employment
Must be able to identify and competently address the needs of the populations served

A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.
