Job Description

Methodist Healthcare in San Antonio seeks a PRN Respiratory Care Practitioner RRT to provide high-quality respiratory therapy to acute and critical care patients. Responsibilities include assessing respiratory status, administering therapies, managing ventilators, performing diagnostic tests, and responding to respiratory emergencies. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, follow evidence-based protocols, educate patients and families, document care accurately, and support our mission-driven, patient-focused culture of excellence and continuous learning. Responsibilities Assess, plan, and deliver respiratory care for acute and critical care patients. Administer therapies including oxygen, nebulizer treatments, and airway clearance techniques. Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot invasive and non-invasive ventilators. Perform and interpret basic respiratory diagnostics such as arterial blood gases and oximetry. Respond to respiratory emergencies, codes, and rapid response calls. Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members on care plans. Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment, and home care. Ensure accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Maintain equipment, supplies, and adhere to infection control and safety protocols. Participate in ongoing training, competencies, and quality improvement initiatives.
