A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

1 Description American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week travel assignment at a children's hospital, caring for critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients on day shift. Details Full-time day shift, 6:45 AM to 7:00 PM Provides pulmonary care across all areas of the hospital for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients Performs airway management, ventilator setup/operation, aerosolized drug delivery, and oxygen therapy monitoring Responds to Code Blue and Code White emergencies May perform advanced procedures including bronchoscopy assist, pulmonary function testing, hemodynamic monitoring, polysomnography, and transport duties Requirements 1-3 years of experience preferred, minimum 1 year required RT or RCP license in Texas required (license required if applicable) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by NBRC required BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required (AHA only) Additional Information May serve in a Shift Leader or Team Leader capacity Performs patient assessments and institutes respiratory care plans under physician direction with minimal supervision Maintains accurate documentation and participates in equipment cleaning/stocking and CAP/JC survey readiness Returning employees who have previously worked at any facility within this health system non-travel must have a 6-month separation before starting a new travel assignment Candidates must clear compliance requirements by the required due dateBenefits
