Job Posting Title Respiratory Therapist (RT) - Sleep Medicine Location Portsmouth, VA (multi-location support within the Tidewater area) Job Description Tidewater Neurologists, Inc. and Sleep Disorder Specialists are looking for a skilled, patient-focused day shift Respiratory Therapist (RT) to join our expanding sleep medicine team. This role is crucial in assisting patients with sleep apnea through CPAP therapy, ensuring adherence, comfort, and long-term success. You will work closely with patients in an outpatient clinical setting, providing education on, set up for, and follow-up care for CPAP therapy, directly impacting patient outcomes and quality of life. This is a great opportunity for an RT who values patient interaction, consistency, and a healthy work-life balance. Main Responsibilities Clinically support patients using CPAP therapy through follow-up visits Perform CPAP setups, mask fittings, and pressure verification Educate patients on CPAP use, care, and troubleshooting Increase patient CPAP compliance through education and encouragement Monitor patient usage and compliance data and report as required for insurance Communicate effectively with physicians and clinical staff regarding patient progress Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards Work independently while collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team Minimum Requirements Must be a licensed Respiratory Therapist (RT) Associate degree from an AMA-approved respiratory program Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent customer service and patient education skills Proficiency with computers and basic medical software systems Ability to manage time effectively and multitask in a clinical environment Preferred Qualifications Previous experience setting up CPAP devices (strongly preferred) Experience in sleep medicine, DME, CPAP, or sleep apnea treatment Familiarity with compliance monitoring and insurance documentation Employment Requirements Background check Drug screening Valid driver's license Healthcare exclusion verification Schedule & Work Hours Full-Time position 4.5-day work week (approximately 36-40 hour work week) No after-hours calls No weekends No on-call responsibilities Compensation $30-$35 per hour, depending on experience Benefits Health Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401(k) Paid Time Off (PTO)
