A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

1 Description American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a night shift position at a Level 3 Trauma Center, requiring 2+ years of experience and RRT, ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications. Details 123-bed Level 3 Trauma Center community hospital located in Spokane Valley, WA Respiratory Therapy department 12-hour night shift, 1800-0630 Every other weekend required 36 hours per week Patient population includes med-surg, critical care, and emergency cases, mainly adults and geriatric patients with occasional pediatric or infant cases Patient ratios vary based on census and acuity using a points-based acuity tool Utilizes Getinge Servo-u ventilators, BiPAP, HFNC, and Pyxis medication dispensing system
EPIC EMR
experience required Floats within different areas of the facility as needed but not to other facilities No on-call requirements Schedules released 6 weeks at a time Requirements RRT license required (license required if applicable) Current ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required Minimum 2 years of experience required Critical care experience required Experience with ventilators, BiPAPs, HFNC, and general respiratory equipment Nursery experience preferred but not required if NRP certified First-time travelers considered if they have 2+ years of experience and required skill set Additional Information Supported on the unit by an RT manager and team lead One day of hospital orientation followed by 2-3 precepted shifts depending on comfort level Holiday coverage expectations vary by unit Time-off requests require manager approval Scrubs must be a solid, matching color for top and bottom Free parking available in designated areas Facility prefers travelers who are engaged, positive, and integrate well with the team
