Respiratory Therapists provide a full range of respiratory care modalities, invasive and non-invasive ventilator management, ambulance transports with ventilator dependent patients, hemodynamic monitoring, ABGs, EKGs, cardiac stress tests, cardiac event monitors, Holter monitors, ABP,EEG, PFTs with body plethysmography and fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FENO) testing.

Job Duties:

Performing comprehensive respiratory assessments and developing appropriate treatment recommendations. Administering respiratory therapies, oxygen therapy, and airway management interventions. Managing and monitoring ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP devices, and other advanced respiratory support systems. Performing diagnostic procedures, including pulmonary function testing, blood gas analysis, EKGs, and other cardiopulmonary studies. Responding to respiratory emergencies and participating in resuscitation efforts. Educating patients and families on respiratory conditions, treatments, medications, and equipment use. Maintaining accurate electronic medical records and documenting patient care activities. Ensuring the proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of respiratory and cardiopulmonary equipment. Supporting quality improvement initiatives and contributing to a culture of safe, patient-centered care.

Requirements:

Must have obtained the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) Entry-Level Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential prior to beginning employment at MMC and must continue to pursue the NBRC's Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential until it has been successfully completed. Must be a licensed respiratory therapist in the State of Wisconsin within 3 months of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) Required for CRTs within 3 months of hire. Required for RRTs at hire. ACLS and NRP within 12 months of hire. Must be able to read and comprehend written materials in English and write legibly. Must be able to effectively communicate verbally in English. Required for CRTs within 3 months of hire. Required for RRTs at hire. ACLS and NRP within 12 months of hire.
