Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

QUALIFICATIONS 1
Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology with a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association. 2 Completed academic course work and working on a Clinical Fellowship (CFY) to obtain the certificate of Clinical Competence 3 Licensed by the State of Arkansas State and hold a valid certificate/license 4 Eligible for enrollment in the Arkansas Medicaid Provider Program. 5 Satisfactorily pass drug screens, criminal background checks, Adult & Child Maltreatment & FBI checks, requirements of BBDCS and Licensing Specialist.
ESSENTIALS JOB DUTIES AND RESPONISIBLITIES 1
Screen/observe referred consumers. 2 Perform evaluation to determine need for therapy. If therapy is indicated, development POC. 3 Daily documentation of treatment sessions. 4 Re-evaluation annually and/or before as indicated. 5 Monitor use of adaptive equipment and specific protocols. 6 Attend meetings and trainings when asked. 7 Attend one conference per client annually. 8 Complete the required documentation per BBDCS policies and procedures.. 9 Research and stay up to date on best practice. BBDCS provides $300.0 per year for continuing education. 10 Informs, counsels, and consults with consumer's family/caregivers and other healthcare workers. 11 Promotes community awareness of BBDCS/therapy programs. 12 Assists therapy coordinator with in-service training for other staff; train staff on appropriate techniques, and interventions. 13 Adhere to BBDCS policies including standards from Medicaid, Insurance, HIPPA, DDS, DHS, and state licensing entities. 14 Use therapy calendar to document change in schedule, vacation, etc. When adding to the therapy calendar, please email the therapy coordinator. 15 Meet weekly minimum hours to ensure BBDCS sustainability.
