Job Description

Category Schools - SLP Job Type Contract Embark on a meaningful assignment supporting students and school staff in the vibrant Evanston, IL area. This contract opportunity is ideal for a passionate Speech-Language Pathologist seeking to make a difference during a maternity leave period, primarily working with students in grades 5 through 8, but with some K-8 involvement. The role spans the upcoming school year, starting August 17, 2026, through November 27, 2026, with a manageable caseload of 15-20 students and approximately 32 hours each week.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

Active Speech-Language Pathologist license (CCC-SLP) required Experience delivering school-based services, particularly with K-8 populations Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation abilities Ability to adapt therapeutic approaches to meet diverse student needs Previous maternity leave coverage or temporary school roles a plus

Responsibilities:

Provide direct speech-language therapy and assessment to a targeted group of 5th-8th grade students, with some K-8 responsibilities as needed Develop, implement, and update individualized education plans (IEPs) Maintain accurate student records and progress notes according to school and state requirements Collaborate with general and special education teachers, administrators, and families to support student growth Participate in IEP meetings and consult on communication strategies within the school environment Attend new staff orientation and ongoing training sessions (schedule to be determined) Explore an assignment where your expertise uplifts students' communication skills and academic success within an encouraging and engaging school community.
