A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

: Speech Language Pathologist (5 positions)
LOCATION
Travel to various schools

Building Principal(s)
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Illinois Professional Educator's License, endorsed in Speech Language Pathology
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a referral, screening and diagnostic system to identify students in need of speech and language services Fulfill the ISBE requirements for a speech-language case study evaluation Schedule, with the cooperation of the principal and classroom teachers, those students needing therapy, implement appropriate program Counsel each student with respect to future educational and/or vocational potential Offer consultative services to school personnel regarding students receiving therapy Arrange meetings with parents or guardians for observation of therapy and/or informative conferences Attend staffing on students where speech and/or language may be involved or when professional counsel may be sought Assist with in-service training of school personnel Prepare necessary local and state reports as directed Perform other duties as assigned
