What they do
A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Job Description
Evaluates and treats patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for rehabilitation of speech, language, hearing, and oral motor disorders, according to department policy and procedure. Exhibits the

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
Indoor department, clean and pleasant. Well lighted and ventilated. Forty hour work week with holiday and weekend rotation. The task of this job involves exposure to blood, body fluids and tissue. Moving, carrying and moving around the unit also required for patient treatments. Exposure to physical and mental anguish. Must be able to move or position 25 lbs. independently.
CONTACTS WITH OTHERS
Has contact with patients and patient family members, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, nursing, Physicians, and other department Associates.
EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED
Computer, communication, therapeutic/technical skills.
Experience or completed Clinical Internship preferred.
